Think Outside is a complete, year-long outdoor education program, but it is not intended to replace your child’s full core curriculum. It works alongside your existing homeschool studies as a hands-on supplement for science, STEM, nature study, life skills, and physical activity.
Each themed kit includes engaging lessons, real outdoor gear, and practical activities that help children apply what they learn beyond a workbook or screen. Many families use Think Outside as their primary outdoor education or nature-study curriculum while continuing to use separate programs for subjects such as math, language arts, and social studies.
Very little. Each kit arrives ready to use with clear instructions, hands-on activities, and the materials and gear needed for each theme. Parents can simply open the kit, review the activity, and head outside.
Younger children may need more guidance and supervision, while older kids and teens can complete many activities more independently. No special outdoor knowledge or teaching experience is required.

Seven-year-olds may be a good fit for either program, depending on their reading ability, maturity, outdoor experience, and how independently they like to work.
